Sour Pickles

Just as update, we are waiting on some fermentation weights to get delivered, but once they do, we have the rest of the stuff ready to experiment with fermented (sour) pickles. It has been requested for awhile, and we finally took the steps to get started. The recipes we found were big batches so we are starting there, and once we learn the technique well, we can scale it down. We will have to convert units as well: they are currently in imperial and we use metrics for each of use and conformity. We will keep you posted on this first test batch of fermented pickles! Remember, for more information about us and our products, please go to http://www.rebelpickles.com.

Finally Fixed!

I FINALLY fixed this blog! For the longest time I couldn’t log into this account and I eventually just gave up and looked for other solutions. A few things happened recently and I had to give it another shot. Took about an hour (had to recover old usernames, passwords, settings, etc), but I finally fixed it! Like I stated before, I looked for another solution. I did, but I will go back to maintaining this page as well. Along with Facebook and our website, WordPress will just reach another audience. We also have an Instagram at rebelpickles for fun pictures. However, if something happens and I can’t access this site again or something else bizarre happens, please don’t hesitate to sent an email to rebelpickles@gmail.com or call us at 603-892-2661. Thank you!

A COVID Update

The storefront is a recent addition to the Rebel Pickles brand and it went online shortly before COVID-19 could truly affect it. The company I work with is a print-on-demand drop shipper, so as orders come in, they are processed then. During this pandemic, they have had to rescale operations to keep up with the demands.

What this means is that apparel items have longer than usual fulfillment and shipping times. Non apparel items are closer to or at normal fulfillment and shipping times. Items like printed tee shirts, hoodies, jackets, shorts, hats, etc have a fulfillment time of around 3 weeks. Items like mugs, face masks, socks and phone cases have fulfillment times of around 7 days. We’re sorry for an inconvenience, but if you do place an order, I assure you it will get fulfilled. If it can’t for some reason, you will be given a refund. If you have any questions about an item(s) fulfillment time, please email me (rebelpickles@gmail.com) and I will look into and get you the most information I can. Thank you all for your support!

The Garden Is Growing!

Our Rebel Garden is growing big and strong! All plant leaves are growing well and all have little buds coming in. It won’t be long until we can harvest. We got everybody plenty of food, so we should have plenty of cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. I’m so excited! Here are a couple of pictures of the garden.

A Baby Cucumber

Cucumber Dilemma

Sigh. I have some upsetting news. I called the farm I get my cucumbers from and the message said that they were closed indefinitely due to the pandemic. It’s not the end of the world though, my wife and I are going to grow what we can. It just means that I won’t be able to produce as much as I wanted to and orders might take longer to fulfill than I was anticipating. We will work as hard as we can to keep up with the demand. We definitely appreciate your patience and support! Stay safe and healthy out there!

Short Social Media Posts

When posting updates and news, my blog is my most prevalent location for for this information. However, a lot of the times the information can be conveyed in only a few sentences and doesn’t need a full blog posting. I would like this to be one of my last shorter blog entries as I will try to use Facebook and Twitter for the shorter, quicker entries. Please feel free to follow one or both to get all the relevant information as it comes in. Thank you!

Because of Popular Demand

It’s been a request by most people I talk to, and I’m listening. Many have asked if I make sour pickles and the answer is no. The particular brine recipe I use won’t ever give me sour pickles. It’s been requested so much that I’ve done research into sour pickles and Rebel Pickles plans to expand the pickle line to include sour pickles in 2020. I must still research how to make them and make a few test batches, but if all goes well, there will be a new teammate next year. I greatly look forward to bringing you more delicious products in the next season! Thank you again for your support!

PS

In an unrelated topic. If you haven’t heard yet, we will be discontinuing 32 ounce jars of pickles. Because I can’t currently obtain cucumbers in the precise sizes I needed to effectively make all three cut styles to fill a 32 ounce jar, only 16 ounce jars will available. I’m sorry if this causes an inconveniences, however, it will also make processing all orders more efficient.

PayPal Issues

I am having an issue with PayPal and it’s not processing some payments and I have had issues even initiating a transaction as well. I am going to try to contact them to try to fix the issues, but as for now, I will lean towards other payment methods first ahead of PayPal. Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience.

Welcome

Introducing the Rebel Pickles blog! Bookmark this page so you can check back here for updated news and information. New things happen a lot and new products are frequently being thought up and I will do my best to keep you informed.

Speaking about new items, Rebel Pickles currently has five varieties of pickles: original red pepper, garlic pepper, italian and sweet. Two other flavors areĀ  being developed as well: sweet and spicy and ghost pepper. In addition to pickles, I will start making a variety of marinated tomatoes and pickled green beans. I’ve been experimenting with mushrooms as well. I like to stay busy making tons of delicious food. I hope I can be a featured product at your next get together and cookouts!
